Coordinator

The coordinator (Professor Axel Haverich, Department of Cardiac-, Thoracic, Transplantation and Vascular Surgery (HTTG), MHH) will be responsible for the overall management of ARISE, including the coordination of all legal, financial and administrative aspects of the project. The MHH avails of well-established structures for the management of EU projects, including 65 funded projects under FP7, with three coordinated projects, one coordinated International Training Network and two ERC grants. Professor Haverich has an extensive and renowned track record in the coordination of large-scale interdisciplinary initiatives in clinical trial settings, both on a national and international scale. He is co-coordinator of the Leibniz Research Labs for Biotechnology and Artificial Organs, chair of the Rebirth Cluster of Excellence “From Regenerative Biology to Reconstructive Therapy” and a member of the Managing Board for the Lower Saxony Centre for Biomedical Engineering, Implant Research and Development. This guarantees the high-level visibility and scientific excellence necessary to guide the overall coordination of the ARISE project.
